Mottled blue bricks and tiles, dark street front doors, deep and timeless stacks of courtyards, high-ridged eaves
Entering Anhui, you will often feel the integration and accumulation of history and modernity in the depths of cities and villages, especially the ancient towns, old streets, and the old craftsmanship and objects of Shenxiang people. The long memory of history tells countless moving stories.
On the occasion of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhongan Online launched a series of photography reports on “Walking the Old Streets of Anhui”, focusing on the simplicity, hard-working, happiness, joy, and self-confidence of old street scenes and people living in the old streets.
In this issue, we take you into the old street of Kongcheng, Tongcheng, Anqing.
Kongcheng Old Street is located in Kongcheng Town, Tongcheng City, Anhui Province, 12 kilometers away from the urban area of Tongcheng City, and has a history of more than 1,800 years. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Old Town of Kongcheng prospered as an important water transportation terminal connecting the Chaohu region and the Yangtze River region. Today, Kongcheng Old Street has a total length of about 3 kilometers and a street width of about 3 meters. The streets, alleys, and alleys are paved with granite and are divided into ten, with gates between each one. The old street runs north-south and has an "S" shape. The terrain is low in the south and high in the north, one main street, two horizontal streets, and three lanes and one lane. The shop premises are made of blue brick and gray tiles, with eaves and wood windows. In 2009, the houses in the core area of Laojia Street were reconstructed and rebuilt. On January 10, 2019, Kongcheng Old Street was approved as a national 4A-level tourist attraction.
I wrote this line of words with a pen, and I couldn't help feeling a little excited, and frankly, there was a little shyness in the excitement. Fortunately, the sun was so clear at this moment that everyone was shining brightly. This sunshine may understand my sincerity, so when I write one more word, my heart warms up.
The capital city of Tongcheng is a place of culture, a place of culture and art, and a place of civilization. When I arrived in Tongcheng, I knew what I was feeling just now. That was the respect and awe of this magical land, which made me feel a little more enthusiasm and added some true feelings when I searched the old streets in this land.
During the period of Daoguang and Xianfeng, the Hunanese Zeng Guofan officially launched the "Tongcheng School" banner. The "Tongcheng School" named after the Tongcheng area came into being. The Tianxia people are a family, aside from geographical restrictions, it can be seen that the influence of Tongcheng culture is deep and gorgeous. I used to go to middle school in my hometown in Hubei and knew that there was a "Tongcheng faction". It was in Anhui, which was a neighbor in Hubei. Later, I once passed by Anhui in a sleeper car and accidentally saw the word "Tongcheng" on the expressway traffic sign. I climbed up and stared out of the window. Behind the regret that passed by, there was still a long joy on his face, "Oh, I have come to the hometown of the" Tongcheng School "." Thinking in my heart, my face couldn't help smiling again.
Many years have passed, and this seemingly insignificant memory fragment, when I was in the future in the land of Anhui, and when I became a new Anhui in the future, I was suddenly brought up from the river of memories, but with lasting temperature.
As far as I am concerned, the earliest filming of Kongcheng Old Street started three years ago. In three years, I often remember this longest old street in East China. The old streets of Anhui that I have visited in the past three years have given me an indelible impression. Therefore, whenever I travel to Tongcheng, I want to take the time to go to the old town of Kongcheng to see if there are any new discoveries or if I have missed some important pictures before. One day in the spring of 2019 when I passed by Kong Kong, it was already dark. It was not possible to take photos in the old street in the half-hour gap, so I took the time to do an aerial photography. The twilight urged me to return the house, and I could only leave in vain.
Unforgettable Kongcheng Old Street also originated from one person.
Early in the morning, I got up with my equipment and came to the old street. I didn't walk a few steps at the entrance. I met Master Wang Bangcai. I saw him holding a knife in his right hand to split a piece of broken bamboo sawn before, and then sent the split thin strip to his mouth to tear. Knife after knife, bite after bite, this serial action left a deep impression on me, more precisely, I was shocked at the time. How can a hard, sharp bamboo strip be sent to the weak mouth, and then the toughness of the tooth surface is used to tear open the cold bamboo strip? I was deeply puzzled, but he answered very simply. It turned out that apart from the mouth, I couldn't find a smoother and faster way to tear the bamboo. "This delicate work can only be done by mouth. It has been like this for decades!" He said casually, I was silent for a long time. Seeing me standing awkwardly, he suddenly showed me a pair of rough hands. I'm really shocked! The fingers of both hands have been deformed due to years of hard work, and the palms stabbed by the bamboo strips cut through crisscross grooves.
A pair of ordinary hands, filled with the hardships of life, should also prove the courage to overcome life. In daily life, the bamboo living utensils we commonly use are really condensed with too much blood and sweat. Think again, in fact, which handicraft does not condense the sweat of labor. "Everything is hard" is not just casually said. In today's increasingly prosperous life, we do not cherish the happiness we have today, and we are ashamed of the hard work and hard work of the working people.
This seemingly simple scene, a picture that I almost missed, deeply touched me. In that cold early winter, the camera is no longer so cold, it jumps frame by frame, and writes down my admiration for the master craftsman and my new insights into the present life.
Leaving the artisan shop, I met the iron shop and tailor shop, and there are a lot of local souvenir shops. I am full of awe of these old crafts that are no longer common but still adhere to them. I hope they will take the spring in the era The new pace has gone further, and has been more stable and firm.
Along the way, the long and long streets slowly extended with my sight, and they seemed to be hugging me. I clearly felt that there was a burst of hard hoarse groaning in the rows of old houses, which was the confident shout of the craftsman, and also the praise and telling of an era.
For thousands of years, time left mottled on the wall, and the joy and sorrow in the pink wall and the tile all faded away with the sun and the moon. The only change from new peaches to old ones is always our longing for the future, our infinite loyalty to life and our long-lasting adherence.
Scholar Feng Xicai said that Lao Cai is a huge historical existence. It is both a precious material existence and an irreplaceable spiritual and emotional existence. This is the meaning of Lao Cai. The Confucian Old Street I visited has a special meaning to me, because the true nature of life is covered with a new color in my heart. (Reporter Chen Qun / Image by Huijing Image Studio)
